Are you looking for a quick timesaving recipe hack for sweet snacks? My mom and I are never shy about grabbing a boxed mix and jazzing it up with our favorite ingredients to create a unique wow factor.

It may surprise you that our favorite way to indulge in Cheerwine (besides out of an ice-cold glass bottle) is to infuse it in recipes for delectable treats. The cherry flavoring compliments desserts well, and these Cheerwine frosted brownies are proof of that.

cheerwine frosted brownies

This frosting is something special we got straight from Cheerwine’s recipe site, where it’s used as the filling for whoopie pies.

If you don’t have a whoopie pie kind of time, then taking marshmallow cream and combining it with Cheerwine syrup creates a dreamy, fluffy buttercream that we just knew belonged on a fudgy brownie. These Cheerwine frosted brownies lived up to our expectations.

TASTY FACT: My mom used to reduce Cheerwine on the stove to create the syrup, but now Cheerwine’s bottled its reduction for easy use. It is available in specialty grocery stores and their online shop.

To start making these brownies, it’s the chef’s choice. Grab your favorite brownie mix recipe. Truthfully, we are suckers for Ghirardelli double chocolate boxed brownie mix. It’s as good as from-scratch brownies, and we stand by that!

Allow the brownies to cool completely to avoid runny frosting.

Next, make the Cheerwine frosting by adding the ingredients to a mixing bowl and beating them until combined and creamy. Add a drop or two of red food coloring if you’d like a more robust red color to reflect the cherry flavor.

Frost cooled brownies with the Cheerwine infusion and enjoy! You’ll likely have leftover frosting, so we recommend freezing it for a rainy day. It’s always a good idea to have extra Cheerwine buttercream on hand.
