NC Eat & Play is hosting its 1st annual Fall Hootenanny at Phillips Farms of Cary presented by Cheerwine. That’s right, you read it correctly. We said, “Hootenanny!” Join us for food, fun, and fellowship on Thursday, October 7, 2021, starting at 5:30pm at Phillips Farms of Cary for this special homegrown event.
What’s a Hootenanny?
In the simplest and non-geographic terms, it’s an informal gathering with folk music and sometimes dancing. In NC Eat & Play’s world, we’re excited to be throwing a fun, family-friendly, southern-rooted gathering at Phillips Farms’ picturesque, open-air marketplace with sounds of great folk and bluegrass music for dancing on the grass and eating and sipping along to.
We like to say our Fall Hootenanny is bringing plenty of “county fair flare” for all.
For us, it’s all about creating a casual and joyous time to celebrate NC Eat & Play’s 2nd anniversary with friends, family, and wonderful partners who’ve helped us grow over the last couple of years. We want to throw a celebration that welcomes fans and followers to join us for delicious food, safe fellowship on the farm, good music, and plenty of surprise giveaways and shenanigans.

You’re all invited to our Fall Hootenanny!
NC Eat & Play will be taking over Phillips Farms of Cary’s Farmers Market Pavilion! Megan, NC Eat & Play’s Founder, shares, ” We’ve been wanting to host a family-friendly event for our NCEP community for some time now, but it wasn’t until we met with Phillips Farms that we knew we could host a comfortable and safe event. Their beautiful new Farmers Market is our new favorite place!

Attendees can expect live music
Dance on the grass to lively bluegrass musical performances by North Carolina’s own Sweet Potato Pie Band.

Sweet Potato Pie is a premier all-female band that has been entertaining audiences for nearly two decades with their classy blend of Americana, Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel music mixed together in a style they call “sweetgrass”.
Radio and TV are well acquainted with their “angelic” vocals from appearances on PBS, the Food Network, and worldwide radio broadcasts. Hailed as the “Lennon Sisters of Bluegrass”, their show revolves around their beautiful 3-part harmonies, hard-driving instrumentals, and down-home humor and storytelling. With classic songs from Patsy Cline, Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, and other legends mixed with their chart-topping original songs, audiences are in for a sensational night of family entertainment.
The Pie has 7 CDs to their credit which includes the #1 Album on Bluegrass APD charts and #3 Album on the Holiday APD charts. Their newest classic country CD was released in November 2015. It charted #1 on the APD Country Chart for November. Recent releases include the patriotic song, Stand Up.
Attendees will also enjoy food, drinks, games, rides, and more

Thanks to our presenting sponsor, all attendees will have ice-cold Cheerwine to enjoy!

Cheerwine has been serving up celebrations since 1917, and we’re proud it all started here in North Carolina! We couldn’t imagine throwing a party and especially a Hootenanny without this classic cherry-flavored iconic soft drink.
Adults 21 and up can indulge in local beer (two beer tickets per attendee), and we’ve just announced a special wine experience we’re calling, Rosé in the Hay. Yes, we will have a special Rosé tasting at the Hootenanny for those “I don’t like beer, guests.”

What is even more exciting is meeting local vendors during the Hootenanny and experiencing fun and games.
Omega Sports, North Carolina’s neighborhood sports store will be at the Fall Hootenanny with kids sports challenges and a hootenanny jump rope competition you have to see to believe!
