A new year seems like the right time to start something new like a blog and an opportunity to reintroduce you to the family behind NC Eat & Play. My goal is to thoughtfully share what’s on my mind, give you a closer peek at some of what’s happening behind the scenes with what I’m working on every day, and share purposeful observations that can hopefully fuel your daily local wanderlust.
Meet the NC Eat & Play fam
I’m Megan, the face and voice of the brand. I created this platform four years ago as a way to inspire others to fall in love with North Carolina. Harrison and I were both born and raised here, and our love for our home runs deep.
As a young married couple with a growing family, traveling around the world wasn’t in our cards. NC Eat & Play gave us a do-it-yourself blueprint to wanderlusting close to home where we frequented new places to eat and fun things to do. We explored both practical and affordable options, as well as indulgent and luxurious when the opportunities came up.
When I’m not being a major foodie, I love reading, going for walks, scenic hikes, photography, and watching movies.
Harrison is our outdoor enthusiast. He loves backpacking, camping, kayaking, and boating. If it’s outside, he does it. He also enjoys rollercoasters, video games, and Duke basketball.
Our boys, Dean and Cameron (yes, we are aware of the NC basketball references in their names lol) are the light of our life. They go with us on nearly all of our adventures.
Our goal here at NC Eat & Play is simple: We believe in something we call LOCAL WANDERLUST.
We want to encourage you to love your life and home by exploring your own backyard. We have so much in store this year.

Thankfully, many of you felt the same way and supported us with all we’ve done. This little hobby grew into a full-time business for both of us and it’s been the biggest blessing!
Today, NC Eat & Play is a full social media brand that offers the largest reach and widest array of content opportunities.
Backed by a team of brand management experts (my team at Llama House Partners), we produce engaging infotainment content through our popular website, newsletters, events, and soon-to-be-released monthly magazine. All of this in addition to social media collaborations and paid partnerships.
You don’t get to see all that goes into running NC Eat & Play, so I’m hoping to share a bit of it in these daily blogs.
Today, the Head of Brand Management got everyone excited with a preview of what’s in the works and the work that needs to be completed.
We will be working on our first publication to go to print this month. I’m so motivated. I can’t explain to you how this year more dreams will be coming true.
The NC Eat & Play Magazine will be officially released in late March of 2024, but the work has already begun. I’m so grateful for the countless contributors and advertisers who have joined us as we begin this new journey. I know you will love what we’re working on!

We’re doing this for a couple of reasons. You can expect more and more content from our website, nceatandplay.com – with more guides, recipes, travel stories, and major photo drops from projects I’m working on. We want you to stay aware of all we’re doing here at NC Eat & Play, and make it a place where you can provide information as well. More to come on that later this month.
