On May 17, 2023, NC Eat & Play joined A&M Premier Roofing & Construction for a neighborhood ceremony in Clayton to award a local Veteran a full roof replacement.

Victor Vaccaro, a Vietnam Veteran, and his wife Holley are the 1st recipients of NC Roofs for Veterans – a free roofing program for Veterans created by A&M Premier Roofing & Construction.

The Ralaeigh-based roofing company will select a deserving Veteran in need of a new roof every quarter. Nominations are collected on the company’s Facebook page and website.
A&M Premier’s Co-Founder Stephen Mull shares, “I served 11 years in the Marine Corp, and I’m dedicated to hiring and helping Veterans in any way I can.”

Mr. Vaccaro moved to Clayton, NC., in 2015 from New Jersey after battling cancer and other health issues. He is a proud lifelong member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Local 800. Before his health concerns, Vaccaro was an active volunteer visiting and bringing food to other heroes at local area Veteran rehabilitation hospitals.
Vaccaro, now 75 years old, says, “I am a disabled Veteran on a fixed income. I bought a house that was rented for years and there are a lot of things that need work.”

When good things happen, we love to share them with our partners, and we were thrilled with The Butcher’s Market agreeing to join the ceremony. Kenneth Wilkins, Training Manager at The Butcher’s Market stopped in and presented a “1st Meal Under Your New Roof Is On Us,” $250 gift certificate to the Vaccaros. They were thrilled. Being from up north, they miss having a regular local butcher. Their next door neighbors couldn’t stop praising The Butcher’s Market. They knew this gift card would be well used.
The very next day, A&M Premier replaced Vaccaro’s existing roof and covered 100% of the materials and labor costs in partnership with GAF®.
As a Veteran-owned and operated business based in Raleigh, NC., A&M Premier is comprised of 75% Veteran employees. The company believes that businesses operated by individuals who have spent years in the military learning valuable skills and techniques can apply to the roofing industry. This experience level allows them to provide top-notch service and ensures that their client’s roofs are repaired or replaced most efficiently and effectively.

Mull adds, “It’s an honor for my team and I to help a fellow Veteran in need of a new roof. We understand replacing an old roof can be stressful and costly – especially one that’s 26 years old like this one. We’re going to give Mr. Vaccaro the peace of mind he deserves knowing he and his family are safe and secure under a new roof protected from outside elements.”

Joining us at the event was The American Legion Post 71. Commander, Pam Meeks, with fellow Veterans, stopped by to show their support for Vaccaro and to learn more about the NC Roofs for Veterans.
There’s no doubt A&M Premier’s commitment to supporting and honoring local Veterans is heartfelt. You immediately feel a genuine camaraderie with their team and the Veterans.
If you know of a deserving Veteran in need of a new roof, please nominate them today. The next roof will be awarded in July, and nominations need to be in by June 30, 2023.
