Clean Hot Sauce off Wool Hand-Knotted Rug
This is a judgment-free zone. Hot sauce accidents happen!
- You will first want to get out as much as possible with a clean paper towel. Don’t scrub it. Blot at it and wipe it off the rug’s surface.
- White vinegar is a good neutralizer if the stain is acidic, like hot sauce, to keep the stain from setting in. You can use it before you go to your soap and water. Always remember, don’t scrub gently blot at the surface.
- Mix clear dish soap mixed with water to make it sudsy. Use a toothbrush and work in one direction. Have a cloth handy because you can blot as you work. You’ll see it lightening up.
- Now, gather some clear, clean water. Rinse out the suds from your brush. Go back in with the water and smooth the nap in the same direction.
Clean Coffee off Wool Hand-Knotted Rug
Coffee is a bit trickier because it is a liquid and it will soak in, but don’t worry. It will come out if you can get it right away.
- Gently blot, don’t scrub, the coffee. When you’re blotting, go against the nap of the wool to get a little more of the liquid out
- Go in with some white vinegar to neutralize the acid in the coffee.
- Mix clear dish soap mixed with water to make it sudsy. Use a toothbrush and work in one direction. Have a cloth handy because you can blot as you work. You’ll see it lightening up.
- Now, gather some clear, clean water. Rinse out the suds from your brush. Go back in with the water and smooth the nap in the same direction.
- After you finish cleaning, you might notice a dark spot. If you smooth the wool back in the proper direction of the nap, it’ll return to the same color as it dries. You won’t even be able to see where the spill happened and
