When Megan’s in-laws transformed their outdoor space into an enclosed sunroom, she knew it was time to connect them with the experts at Furnitureland South. Megan shared, “My mother-in-law has always been great at styling her home but admitted needing help planning for the new space. She wanted a place that still felt distinctive like a private escape from the rest of the home but would flow nicely with her other interiors.”
That’s where Furnitureland South’s Design Consultant, Courtney Plunkett helped.
First, it’s important to understand that anyone can make an appointment with a Design Consultant. These appointments are FREE and at no obligation to purchase furniture.
The Nichols enjoyed working with Courtney. She helped space plan the room first – which she affirms is one of the most important steps in great design. Understanding the scale of a room will help plan for the size of furniture you will need and how many pieces you will be able to have in it.
A couple of great questions to be ready for when meeting with a design consultant.
- What is the square footage of the space? (know your length, width, and height)
- How will the space be used?
- What is the natural walking pattern? (entering and leaving the space)
- How many people would you want in the space?
- What is the natural light (windows) and lighting like in the space? (day and night)
- What are some must-haves on your wish list in designing the space?
- What are some inspirations (photos, videos, social media) you have in mind?
Thanks to Courtney, Megan’s in-laws were able to find pieces that work best in the sunroom and were able to choose fabrics from Furnitureland’s wide selection that gave the room a custom look.
The best part is that Furnitureland South provides FREE White Glove Delivery. This means, your furniture will be professionally delivered with the utmost care and placed exactly where you need it in your home.
The sunroom turned out fabulous.
With the help from Furnitureland South, the Nichols were able to create a space that would allow for comfortable lounging and watching television that did not take away from their outdoor view.
The space seamlessly transitions and doesn’t feel disconnected from the other parts of the home. “Honestly, it feels just right. Not overly designed, but smartly coordinated,” says Megan.
