Join us for this fun 1-mile event on Lake Gaston. Choose to either swim, float, paddle or walk this distance with us on August 10th!
Our participants are all different ages, shapes, sizes, and speeds. So bring your family, friends and neighbors to join us for this community event!

R EGISTRATION: $25 through August 9, 2024 ($30 day of event)
Registration opens at 8am day of the event.
At 9:00 AM, your journey will begin at The Pointe and 1-mile later you will arrive at WatersView on the opposite side of Eaton Ferry Bridge in Littleton, NC.
For the safety of all participants boat traffic will be stopped under the bridge, during the event. As well, vehicle traffic on the bridge will be reduced to one lane.
Funds raised during the Lake Gaston Foundation’s The Crossing supports grants used in the LKG community. Please “like” the Lake Gaston Foundation’s and Lake Gaston Regional Chamber of Commerce’s FB pages for updates.
How you partake is your choice, and we’ve given you 4 options to choose from:
1. Swimmers:
Under 13 years of age must have signed life guard statement that they have a proven ability to swim the distance or be accompanied by an adult throughout the swim.
Must wear swim cap for visibility, swim caps will be provided at registration check-in.
Will be loaded onto a barge and taken out to the 1-mi start point.
2. Walkers:
Make the trip across the Eaton Ferry Bridge while traffic is reduced to a single lane.
Cheer on and watch the swimmers, vessels and wavers cross from your bridge viewpoint.
3. Non-motorized Vessels:
Can be individual or team entry.
Can use commercial or self-made vessel. All vessels must be water sound, with riders wearing an approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD).
Some examples: Kayaks, canoes, etc.
4. The Wavers:
Created to encourage small or large groups to cross together in the most creative ways possible.
Some examples: Homemade boats, barges, rafts, etc.
Liability Waiver: I understand that participating in this events can be a potentially hazardous activity. I understand that consulting my doctor before engaging in this physical activity is necessary, and it is my responsibility to ensure that I am healthy enough to participate. I agree to abide by any decision of an event official relative to my ability to safely complete the event. I assume all risks associated with participating in The Crossing at Lake Gaston on August 10, 2024, including, but not limited to falls, contacts with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, all risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this release and knowing these facts, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf or on behalf of my estate waive and release the Lake Gaston Foundation, all sponsors of the race, any other persons or organizations assisting of the event, volunteers, and their successors and assigns of each and every of the above from all claims or liabilities of any kind of arising out of my participation in the event even though the liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons referred to in this waiver. I also grant permission for the use of any photographs, motion pictures, recording or any other record of my participation in this event for any legitimate purpose. I understand that if the event is cancelled beyond the control of the event committee and sponsors, including, but not limited to unsafe weather conditions, my entry fee will not be refunded. I grant to any medical director of the event, and his or her agents, affiliates and designees, access to all medical records (and physicians) as needed and authorized medical treatment is needed. I understand that I have the right to refuse medical care and advice of medical personnel; if my medical condition becomes such that my mental capacity is questioned, the physician has the right to recommend and initiate treatment. I understand and agree that I hereby assume liability for any and all medical expenses incurred as a result of training for and/or participation in this event, including but not limited to ambulance transport, hospital stays, physician and pharmaceutical goods and services.
