This tour is pay-what-you-want ! If you enjoy the tour, please provide appropriate compensation! CASH ONLY please! Usually, I receive $15 to $20 per adult, but you are free to give more or less than that, depending on how you feel about the tour. As you can imagine, I need to work hard to earn your appreciation!
Tours have always been pay-what-you-want, but advance registration is now REQUIRED. I need to ensure that there will not be too many people on the tour, and I need to be able to communicate with you if the tour needs to be cancelled due to the weather or low signups.
This tour leaves the starting point VERY quickly so that we can start seeing all of the fabulous art, so PLEASE be on time! If you are late, you can catch up with us by heading down Martin St. to the east (i.e. toward Fayetteville St.). We will be on Martin St. for several blocks.
This cool downtown tour shows you some of Raleigh’s best and most vibrant large scale art works! The focus of the tour is on Raleigh’s creative murals.
This tour will take place entirely within the downtown Sip n’ Stroll district! While we will not be making any specific stops for drinks, please feel free to arrive early and purchase a drink at Whiskey Kitchen before the tour starts.
The line at Whiskey Kitchen’s bar can be long, so you may also want to consider purchasing a drink at a different establishment before the tour starts. Parkside Restaurant is the next closest participating establishment to the starting point. For a list of all the establishments that participate in the Sip n’ Stroll program, please click HERE.
After the tour starts, you will also have the option of getting a drink at a couple of places, including Bittersweet and Beasley’s Chicken & Honey. To do this, you would need to break off from the tour and then rejoin us after you purchase your beverage.
This tour is shorter than my normal tours and is geared toward the warmer summer weather! It will be 60 minutes long, so you won’t have to be outside in the warm temperatures for too long. And hopefully having a cool beverage on the tour will help you beat the heat!
The tour will end near Poole’side Pies at 428 S. McDowell St. The end point is 2 blocks away from the starting point. There will not be any restroom breaks or stops for food/drinks.
Please plan your parking accordingly. Most street parking paid until 6:00 pm on Fridays and all street parking is free on Saturdays. If you prefer to park in a deck, the closest parking deck is the Wake County parking deck, located at 216 W. Cabarrus St., on the corners of Davie, McDowell and Cabarrus streets. Vehicular entrances are located on Cabarrus and Davie streets. This deck is 1 block away from the starting point of the tour.
PLEASE NOTE: On this tour, we will see many pieces that are on my Part II: Murals & Public Art tour. So if you have been on the Part II tour, this tour may not be for you unless you don’t mind seeing the same art a second time!
The mural in the photo accompanying this listing is Too Small To Fail by local artist Luke Buchanan. You can follow him on Instagram @ lukebuch.
