If you’re looking for recommendations on where to eat in Winston-Salem, you’ve come to the right place! Winston-Salem is one of the first cities in North Carolina that I explored for NC Eat & Play. It’s a quick hour and a half drive from Raleigh and is an area rich in history, interesting architecture, and foodie destinations.
As is the case with all of the guides I write, this is a look into my personal favorite finds and it will be continually updated as I try more establishments. I drive through Winston-Salem often when traveling to Western North Carolina, so be sure to let me know some of your go-to spots so I can add them to my must try list!
Where to Eat in Winston-Salem: Reynolda Village
Reynolda Village is a shopping center designed in the early 1900’s to look like an English Village. The buildings used to be apart of the R.J Reynolds family estate and includes an old school, dairy barn, blacksmith shop and more.
These charming buildings now house modern businesses and restaurants. It’s a wonderful place to grab a bite to eat and stroll the village.
Now that I’ve convinced you that Reynolda Village is a must-stop in Winston-Salem (because it IS), here are two restaurants there that I’ve tried and enjoyed!
Dough-Joe’s

May Way Dumplings

Dewey’s Bakery is a Winston-Salem staple.
Dewey’s Bakery was established in 1930 in Winston-Salem and is known for their Moravian cookies and sugar cakes using recipes from Moravian immigrants who came to the area in the 1700s.
You can visit their bakery for treats or you can even find their cookies in stores across NC!
One of our favorite burgers in North Carolina can be found in Winston-Salem!
Smash burgers are irresistible to me and Heff’s Burger Club makes one of the best I’ve ever had. The locally sourced ingredients, perfectly charred edges, and hip atmosphere make this one of the best restaurants in Winston-Salem!
